Senior Care Insurance Services

By Woodrow Wilcox On July 23, 2014, a senior client brought a bill to my office and wanted to know why he got a bill despite the fact that he had both Medicare and a Medicare supplement policy which he bought through this insurance agency. The client is from Griffith, Indiana. I contacted his insurance company which reported that it never got the claim. With the client in my office to grant permission for me to speak and question for him, I contacted the laboratory that sent him the bill. I discovered that the doctor who ordered the laboratory tests for our client had not given the laboratory our client’s Medicare number so that it could bill Medicare. Our client gave the laboratory his Medicare number during our phone call. The laboratory representative told us that the client could disregard the bill for $284 which he had received. The client was very happy with the result of his visit to our office. Because I grew up in Griffith, I asked him if he had ever known my grandfather. He had. My grandfather was his high school English teacher. Then, I listened to him as he reminisced for a few minutes. The help that I gave this client was FREE OF CHARGE. The people at this insurance agency really do care about our senior citizen clients. We “go the extra mile” to protect them from financial harm when mistakes threaten their bank accounts. Does your insurance agency give this high level of service to its senior clients? If not, why not? © Woodrow Wilcox 2014
